Do you enjoy a good puzzle? So do radiology transcriptionists, Pam and Shelly!

Each hour of their transcription day they put multiple puzzles together as they carefully decipher every word of the radiologists’ dictations. They find precise spellings and definitions of new terminology while using their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to ensure that each end report is a very accurate interpretation. Together they bring a combined 67 years of experience in medical/radiological transcription into expertly completing each report!

Pam’s first job, following business school in Omaha, Nebraska, was as an accounts receivable/ insurance clerk at Douglas County Hospital, Omaha. She has worked in the healthcare field ever since as a Medi-Cal Claims Processor, Medical Transcriptionist, Medical Staff Secretary at an Air Force hospital, and Office Manager for an OB-GYN practice, returning to medical transcription when she moved to the Central Valley. Pam joined the Merced MRI (now El Portal Imaging) staff in September, 2003

Shelly’s healthcare background began at Mercy Hospital as a Quality Assurance clerical staff member, moving to the Transcription Department as the Transcription Clerk. With an interest in transcription and on-the-job training, Shelly assumed a position as Medical Transcriptionist, working not only at Mercy but Saint Agnes Medical Center and Advanced Medical Imaging in Fresno. Upon returning to Merced Shelly resumed transcription at Mercy Dominican. Shelly joined the Merced MRI in July, 2006.

Pam and Shelly say, “At El Portal Imaging Center we use a state-of-the-art radiology information system to create, transcribe and transmit the written report to our patients’ referring providers. The importance of an accurate, timely report is paramount to our Transcription Department. Being afforded the tools to do the best job for our patients and their providers is just one of the many reasons we enjoy working at El Portal Imaging.”
